It's that time of the year again! Mooncake Festival is here! The mooncake-craze is on again. This year, not only do you see the traditional mooncakes but a series of fusion mooncakes with distinctively unique flavours as well. A list of them would include cheese, raspberry, raspberry-cheese, chocolate-cheese, cranberry, liquor, plum and ume (Japanese plum) mooncake.

I've always loved mooncakes due to their sinfully sweet flavour that just satisfies your palates. Plus with the ever growing food industry, you just have to be curious enough to try the experimental flavours that food-industries have released today. Hmm, I've yet to try the flavours mentioned above and I'm pretty sure I want to, not to mention the Durian mooncake as I'm a big fan of the king of all fruits, the Durian. As inflation rates of ingredients have boomed over the year, mooncakes for boxes of 10-12 sold islandwide have risen from the average price of $42 per box to between $42-$46 per box. For those of you who are like me and doesn't mind forking out the extra cash to taste these exquisite delights, my personal recommendation of the best places to buy mooncakes that are of premium quality and satisfaction guaranteed would be from five-star hotels such as Meritus Mandarin, Orchard Hotel, St. Regis and also mooncake distributors such as Taipan and Tung Lok which are a common sight at mooncake fares islandwide due to popular demand. For those who loves ice-cream can also savour one of my favourite ice-cream mooncakes found at Swensens which are made from their very own original flavoured ice-cream!

So what are you waiting for? Go out and get the mooncakes while they last cause you can only taste these delightful treats once a year!
