Manananggal

Manananggal ("one who can remove"): The manananggal is from Philippine mythology and is a witch-like person (usually a woman) with long hair and wild eyes who can detach her upper torso from her lower half of her body via wings that sprout whenever there is a full moon. She usually flies in the dark searching for victims whose blood she sucks. The common story is of a pregnant woman lying in bed asleep, the manananggal alights on the thatched roof of the grass "nipa" hut, lowers her proboscis- like tongue and sucks the blood of the fetus in the mother's womb. Application of garlic on the lower body while the upper half is away will make it impossible for the manananggal to return. If the upper torso remains away from the lower torso at daybreak the manananggal will die. Salt works equally well against the manananggal. The trick is to sprinkle salt on the lower torso of the manananggal while the upper one is away. This prevents the manananggal from rejoining its other half.

Sakura Restaurant Dinner Buffet

It is Wednesday and I have no school today!!! Went out for a dinner buffet at Sakura Restaurant located in Clementi, right behind Singapore Polytechnic. It cost $24.00 per head with a $1.50 for GST, so we paid $25.50 per person. Went with my old secondary school-mates, 4 of us in total. One of them was like super late and so we only reached the restaurant at 8.15pm, as the restaurant closes at 9.30pm, we had more or less an hour to start getting ourselves bloated in that 2-storey dinner buffet. I have to say, it was well worth my money and not eating one whole day just to save up for that buffet. Being a weekday, there was still quite a crowd. Catching up on old times is great sometimes and seeing how people change and how some people don't change at all like this "mat" friend I have, haha!! (the one who came late...) Well, what can I say... Some people just haven't woken up to reality yet, haha!! As always, I'll provide ya with a list of what I ate!

The Legend Of Bloody Mary

Many people have heard the legend of Bloody Mary. You know the face in the mirror! People say that if you go into a bathroom in the dark with a lit candle and say the words “Bloody Mary” 3 to 100 times, you will see her face. There are many things that can happen when you disturb Bloody Mary. It has been reported that she will kill the person calling her, scratch his or her eyes out, drive the person mad or even bring the person into the mirror with her. If you had seen the movie Candyland or Urban Legend , perhaps, you would recognize the similarities to that of Bloody Mary.

Many people believe that Bloody Mary may be Mary Worth. Mary Worth had many identities. She could be a woman who died in a car crash and had her face disfigured, or maybe a medieval queen who killed virgins for their blood and bathed in it to preserve her beauty. She could also be a woman that murdered her baby as an result of an abortion.

The people who call Bloody Mary are usually teenage girls. Bloody Mary is mostly summoned at sleepovers as a form of entertainment. However, you might wonder why kids might want to call this chilling woman. It may be a safe way to flirt with danger. People who think they have seen Bloody Mary have said that she appeared in the mirror with a 1700s-1800s style dress holding her dead baby. Her face seemed decayed and rotten and her eyes were either white or rolled back. Bloody Mary also went by the names Bloody Bones, Hell Mary, Mary Worth, Mary Worthington, Mary Whales, Mary Johnson, Mary Lou, Mary Jane, Agnes, Black Agnes, Aggie and Svarte Madame. It has been rumored that you can also call her by shouting “Bloody Mary I killed your baby," or by saying, “I believe in Mary Worth”.

This is an old legend and Janet Langlois is a folklorist who published an essay on the legend in 1978 and made it popular across America. It could be that bloody Mary can do whatever she wants, so watch yourself. If you still don't believe the story you might wonder, Am I willing to see what is in that mirror, because you might try it yourself.

Title : What Happens In Vegas

Went town today together with Fidya, a year one camper who was in the same team as me during camp a week ago. The first thing we did when we arrived was to buy the tickets for the movie "What Happens In Vegas". Surprisingly, met Kai Le and Felicia at Cathay Cineleisure while on the way to buy the tickets. Soon after persevering the long queue of people and finally purchasing the tickets, went to Swensens for lunch and desert. It's been a long time since I had my all-time usual favourite Swensens ice-cream, "Vanilla Nut Icecap". Went shopping later, first stop was Heeren. The New Urban Male Braziliano Praia I wanted was still out of stock!! Grr!! Hopefully, the stock will come in next week. Made our way to Wisma Atria and looked through Topman and Esprit (which I found nothing new) before making our way to the cinema. Met Felicia and Kai Le once again before entering for our moive as coincidentally they too were watching the same movie and timing as ours together with Felicia's boyfriend and Desmond.

It is definitely one of the best romance cum comedy movie that you wouldn't wanna miss! Truly worth your money watching it a second time if you want to. "Defintely Maybe" was nice if you've watched it but this movie had much more laughter with the touching feeling still lingering in the air in every scene. I give it a... 10 out of 10! Seriously!! It's nice!!! Truly one of the best movies based on reality to make me smile in such a long time.

Trying is better than not doing anything at all.

Title : Azan's Wedding

I'm back from cousin's wedding!! It's finally came to an end after 2 days. On the first day which is the day before yesterday, 7th June 08, in traditional malay weddings, the male side will go over to the female side first, followed by the next day being vice-versa. The first day was full of preparations and setting up. Carried and placed a few things here and there and later escorted the groom to the bride's house. The feast they threw and the atmosphere that befall us as we stepped into their wedding hall was astounding. You'll just have to let the pictures do the talking.

On the second day which is yesterday, 8th June 08, had to be at my cousin's house, the groom's side, by 10am but we only went over to the bride's side at 1pm... Took lots of pictures today. Singapore footballer Baihakki Khaizan, who is my second cousin (cousin's cousin) couldn't turn up as he's away in another country but his family came in his place together with his fiance, Nofasari, who is an actress on channel Suria. She was spotted straight away by many when we arrived over at the bride's side and was invited to sing a song dedicated to the newly-weds. She did it hesitantly and said "there's no rehearsal for this!" jokingly and sang with a beautiful voice. We ate and returned back to the groom's side together with the bride this time. A traditional malay ceremony took place as we were leaving called the "Kuda Kepang" and "Silat". This is a traditional malay culture ceremony that is believed to chase away evil spirits from the newly weds.

The day went on with me snapping more and more pictures! A total of 121 pictures in all! Not missing a single moment of the wedding! No one in my family takes better pictures than me! Haha. Being the one taking them means I rarely appear in them. Well, that's the sacifice I have to do in order to carry on my photo-taking hobby! Haha! Altogether, the newly weds had 4 different types of wedding suits to change and wear, it must have been really tiring during their photoshoot for them. I'm sure my estimate and rumours of the wedding's total cost is around $22 000. whistle* A grand wedding indeed! Anyways, once again, congrats to newly-weds Azan & Salwati! Wish you guys everlasting happiness!!! =)
